The Role:

The Programme Management Support Specialist will be working directly for one of our Senior Programme Managers within MBNL’s Transmission Programme.  They will be responsible for providing assurance on all aspects of the programme governance, forecasting and quality controls. Acting as the Senior Programme Manager’s right hand, they will need to be able to step in to chair programme meetings where necessary and ensure all parties are prepared and delivering to agreed shareholder outcomes.

What you can expect to be doing:

  • Financial Management.  Operationalising forecasting and budgeting for the programme.
  • Continuous improvement of financial handling in all aspects. Key Programme liaison with Commercial Finance and BPT team
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining comprehensive budget reporting and financial dashboard to provide a coherent view of the Transmission Programme financial status.
  • Supporting the development of the 5 year and AOP planning annually, updating where appropriate. Responsible for the proactive forecasting, tracking and control of the Transmission Programme budget, including variance reporting to Commercial Finance team.
  • Vendor and SMC Management – to handle escalations to director level within vendor organisation. Challenging costs for statements of work, ensuring best value for Shareholders. Leading reviews of lessons learned. Chairing and documenting programme level/commercial reviews with vendors.
  • Responsible for the proactive management of all financial interdependencies, budget risks and issues relating to the Transmission programme. Where required, timely escalation to the relevant project / programme manager with proposed corrective action.
  • Allocating new work to appropriate programme team
  • Managing absences, covering for both Senior Programme Manager and Programme Managers where necessary
  • Responsible for supporting the transformation and continuous improvement of the end to end methodologies, processes and capabilities required to manage the programme governance, financial budgeting, forecasting, funding allocation, ordering, tracking, control and reporting for projects and programmes in MBNL including all related forums and governance control points
  • Responsible for the proactive identification and implementation of efficiency and cost saving initiatives to maximise the benefit delivered by the Transmission Programme.

What we are looking for:

  • Significant and demonstrable experience in financial management of large scale, high value programmes.
  • Experience in gathering and collating programme requirements and producing detailed programme dashboards to present to senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to engage confidently with project teams and stakeholders in order to identify opportunities and affect change to deliver relevant outcomes.
